A Government announcement was issued on 10th February which includes advice to business to prepare for border controls by making sure you have an Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number.
Do your trading agreements with EU suppliers and/or buyers deal with the risks that this may bring, including:
- quality checks
- customs duties
- tariffs
- more bureaucracy than we are used to as members of the EU?
If not, you need to discuss these risks with your European trading partners and get some changes to your contracts in readiness for the new regime.
ContractStore has more information and a handy list of Brexit clauses to help you which you can find here.
And if the UK is going to impose controls, so will the EU.

…and remember to download and use your Brexit clauses!
